Arauca Capital and the Finance & Investment Club Uniandes are thrilled to invite current undergraduate students to participate in the first fundamental Stock Pitch Competition in Colombia.

The Colombia Stock Pitch Competition offers the opportunity for students in Colombia to explore public equities globally by identifying an undervalued/mispriced company and constructing a detailed analysis of the potential investment opportunity that will be presented to a world-class judge panel.
​
Participants will compete for a summer internship at Arauca Capital, an unprecedented opportunity to gain mentorship and exposure in the first international hedge fund with Colombian roots (see more details on the ‘About Arauca Capital’ section).
​
Arauca Capital will also be sponsoring access to SixAI until the end of June for all participants. Additionally, through our partner SumZero, the world’s largest buy-side investment community, all applicants will have access to the platform until the end of June. The winner will have access to SixAI and SumZero for 1 year, and will have their writeup published on the SumZero platform.
SixAI is the cutting-edge idea-generation engine for fundamental investors, used by investors of all sizes - from single-manager funds to some of the largest asset managers in the world.

Up to 5 participants will be notified via email no later than Sunday April 14 on whether they have been selected to advance to the final round. Additional details regarding schedule will be provided at this time.

Finalists Live Pitch (Online)
Competition finals will be held at the end of April online (final date to be announced soon). Finalists will pitch their ideas in a 10 minute live pitch, followed by 5-10 minutes of Q&A from the panel of judges
Competition Guidelines
We expect investment ideas to be based on fundamental analysis and may be either long or short positions on any stock (no ETFs, bonds or special situations). There are no restrictions on the company’s market cap, geography, exchange, or industry - basically any publicly-listed company globally.
Below you will find guidelines for each stage of the competition.
Initial pitch submission (pitch/write-up)

Make sure to pre-register above in order to get access to SumZero, SixAI and to receive updates regarding the progress of the competition

Every candidate should submit an idea individually (no group presentations)

Written stock pitch (no presentations) no longer than 4 Word pages. You may also include charts/tables that you consider necessary for your write-up.

Language: English.

Throughly explain the company’s business (products, services, geographies, market), its history, management team, ownership structure, competitors’ landscape, financials, and the investment opportunity.

Finalists presentation

Finalists may choose to build a presentation (PPT) for their live pitch or to present live their write-up memo.

Language: English.

10 minute live pitch of your investment idea to the panel of judges, followed by a 5-10 minute Q&A session.
Other requisites for participation

You should be an undergraduate student from any Colombian university.

You must submit an original pitch/write-up. Note that originality does not mean that it has to be an unknown company/idea, it means that the write-up/analysis is written by you and with your reasoning.

Judging Criteria

The write-ups should be current and actionable as of the time of submission.

The write-ups should be fundamentally based and should include a detailed analysis and explanation of the company’s business, financials, and investment opportunity.

Remember that this is NOT a valuation challenge, it is an investment pitch competition. Valuation is only one of several nuances to keep in mind for the stock pitch.

Remember that this is NOT a trading challenge. Technical analysis is NOT something we are looking for (in fact, it will probably diminish your chances).

We will evaluate how concise, well-written, and well-researched is each writeup (see the examples under ‘Content Guidelines’ for guidance).

Please communicate your investment idea in a top-down communication style (start with the conclusion of your investment idea and then elaborate your arguments throughout the document).

We will evaluate your reasoning, not the lenght/unnecessary sophistication of the write-up. We want to know how you think and we want you to explain the investment rationale clearly.

Finalists will be evaluated on the conciseness of their live pitch and their ability to accurately respond questions from the panel, as well as the quality of the write-up presented on the previous stage.
About the Internship
As an intern, you will have the opportunity to:

Gain unique working experience at the only hedge fund with Colombian roots.

Develop your analytical and financial skills to enhance your ability to pursue a career in global hedge funds, investment banks or private equity firms.

Gain invaluable mentorship and training from seasoned investment professionals.
​
Gain full exposure to the investment process of a world-class international hedge fund (and contribute to it).
Exposure to meetings with management teams and other investment professionals globally.

Duration of 2 months (during the summer 2024).
​
Although this would be an unpaid summer internship, you will have the opportunity to be mentored by seasoned investment professionals and will allow you to gain 100% access to the investment process, discussions, and network.
